I thought it was normal at the time. Trouble concentrating, staring off into nowhere, trouble learning and concentrating. It had been implied I was not that smart. Trouble with languages. Was this an early sign of Epilepsy? I am not sure. However, I excelled in college and technical school taking the classes I wanted to, even though I was diagnosed with Grand Mal Epilepsy at 21. We all wanted to fit in back then and there was so much pressure. Living with epilespy as a young adult until it went dormant when I was 38 was difficult. Fast forward 30 years and imagine finally allowing your self to feel empowered. Working on becoming the best version of yourself everyday. Living the life you have set out for yourself or working on living your best life. I have my own coaches, some for personal, some for business. I am always open to learning new things that will benefit my life, how I am to others and how to have a thriving business that allows my clients to step into there magnificence. Come join me on Thursday nights at 630 pm PST for my FREE “Free to Be” Classes. Come by and check out www.liznicholls.com and register for them there. Demarcus Charles shares his epilepsy story and how it brought to light the need for awareness that police and first responders need to have mandatory seizure first aid training. Her newest album, “Good Morning Gorgeous,” is inspired by her own story. It is an affirmation she told herself the first thing in the morning through some of her most difficult days. “And it’s because it’s something I had to do, and something I had to say when I was in my darkest moments in that life, to build myself up to this person that I can see and accept... accept all the things that I used to hate.” I would have never imagined a super star had to do that would you? No matter your taste in music and entertainment, maybe there is something to it?
So, How are WE Doing? Raise your hand if the last two years have been tough! No one, including me has been immune to the reach of COVID-19’s negative effects, whether you got the virus or not, there has been a heavy weight of unwellness in business, housing, supply chains, inflation, friendship… what we feel inside. I have been affected by it all personally, battling health issues and not knowing where I was going to live at one point! I had good days and bad days, but my resolve and my mission never waivered to support others living with epilepsy. I drew on all the holistic work I have done over the years to maintain a positive mindset. We know that when epilepsy is a part of you, when extra stressors are added, we worry about the epilepsy getting worse in addition, and sometimes those worst fears happen. For me, the only way to pull through is through mindset work. I do not say this to be dismissive of the real-world pain and fear we go through. It is not an easy endeavor. It is a battle to maintain, but for me I have found that it is worth it. The more I practice, the easier it is to go to that place. I have disciplined myself to start the day with mindfulness. Early in the morning while I am still lying in bed and the negative thoughts try to start to come in, I contemplate on what the lesson is to be learned from my present situation, and what are positive things that I can reflect on in my life. Here are some other things that we can meditate on:
